On average nurses experience between four and 18 interruptions per hour and spend 23% to 42% of their time multitasking. Medication administration and documentation are in the top five of their daily activities and are prone to errors due to these frequent interruptions. Studies show smart infusion pumps can help reduce medication errors, streamline workflows, and support better clinical outcomes. In response to this research, the new BD neXus Infusion Platform introduces a scalable solution that builds on Guardrails™ medication safety to help reduce potential errors while protecting every patient.
How BD neXus works
It is easy to use and accessible, with all vital functions being surfaced through a single press of the instantly recognisable home button, unique patent-pending, chevron-based interface to facilitate agile data entry and minimise human errors, and color-coded touch screen that enables nurses to quickly assess infusion status. With its compact, stackable and lightweight design, BD neXus also keeps bedside management simple, with built-in functions for handovers, medication changes and patient transfers. Additionally, BD neXus integrates with hospital information systems, automating infusion documentation and improving care transitions.

The Clinical Team will provide training and support in all clinical settings where BD neXus is introduced. Their diverse expertise across various infusion therapy specialties – including oncology, neonatal care, and critical care – ensures that training is comprehensive and tailored to the real experiences and needs of health professionals.
Further underscoring BD’s focus on patient care, all training content within BD neXus is accredited by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), adhering to national standards for medical device training. BD’s Clinical Team will collaborate closely with hospital Clinical Education teams to develop bespoke training plans – aligning training with each institution’s individual requirements.
