Enhanced Technology: helping practices recover money they are owed

UK general practice is under growing pressure. Patient demand is rising, and admin work is getting more complex. Because of this, protecting practice income is now just as important as delivering good clinical care. Enhanced Technology has stepped into this space with a clear focus: helping practices recover money they are owed, while also helping them stop future income being missed.

Their main service, GP Profit Recovery, has already helped hundreds of GP practices find millions of pounds in NHS income that was never claimed. What makes this service different is that it does more than look backwards. It uses real data to help practices improve how they work going forward, supported by simple training that anyone can access.

Amanda Curl from Wincanton Health Centre said she was “shocked to hear how much was found. Such a huge amount of money,” after £5,900.71 was successfully recovered for the practice.

She emphasised how simple the process was from the practice’s side, explaining “I didn’t have to do anything really,” while “the work silently went on in the background.” For other practices considering the service, she described it as “an easy process with little input from me. Very worthwhile.”

At its core, GP Profit Recovery is a no-risk service. They work on a commission basis where practices only pay a percentage of what is successfully reclaimed. The team reviews PPA data to find cases where clinical work was done but the claim was not submitted, or was submitted incorrectly. This often happens because of staff changes, system complexity, or time pressure.

Enhanced Technology’s team manually checks these cases and prepares correct claims for the practice. The practice then prints, signs, and submits them as usual. There are no upfront fees, and if nothing is found, there is nothing to pay. On average, practices recover around £16,000. In 2025 alone, GP Profit Recovery reclaimed £2.66 million for GP practices across the UK.

Practices often talk about both the financial and practical benefits. One practice said:
they “deliver tangible financial results while reducing workload and uncertainty. The review paid for itself and added value beyond just recovering income.”

The service is not only about finding missed money from the past. The data collected shows clear patterns. It highlights which claims are most often missed, where workflows break down, and how processes could be improved. This helps practices understand why income is being lost, not just where.

Rather than sending raw spreadsheets, the findings are shaped so they can be used in quality improvement (QI) work. This allows teams to use the data in meetings, reviews, and planning sessions. Over time, this helps practices move from fixing mistakes after they happen to preventing them in the first place.

This approach tackles a common problem in health technology: data that exists but is never used. Enhanced Technology focuses on making information useful for both clinical and admin teams. The aim is to support better discussions, clearer systems, and stronger controls, not just reports that sit unread.

Alongside the data, Enhanced Technology also provides free training. Understanding PPA and FP34 claiming can be confusing, especially when staff learn on the job or take over from others. The training explains the basics, common mistakes, and how to claim correctly. It is open to all practices, even if they do not use the recovery service.

This learning element is highly valued. One practice shared:
“For practices to receive the money they may of missed claiming for, no matter how small or large the amount it always helps. Helps you understand the PPA claiming system and if you are doing it correctly ie claiming for to the max and if you weren’t you will be after this check.”

By combining expert review with open education, practices get both short-term and long-term benefits. They recover money quickly, but they also build confidence and skills that reduce future losses. This mix of financial recovery and behaviour change is what sets the model apart.

In 2025, Enhanced Technology worked with 360 GP practices. For many of them, the impact went beyond income. The findings often led to better teamwork, clearer roles, and improved record-keeping. The recovered data became a starting point for ongoing improvement, not just a one-off gain.

One practice summed it up clearly:
“Overall, the experience was smooth, professional, and delivered real value and I’d absolutely work with them again.

To help more practices benefit, Enhanced Technology also runs a referral programme. Practices that refer others who sign up are rewarded. This supports shared learning and recognises that collaboration is vital in today’s primary care environment.

In the end, the value of GP Profit Recovery is not just about money. Reclaimed income can be used to support staff, protect clinical time, and keep services running smoothly. By reducing financial stress and improving systems through data and learning, practices gain breathing space. That space allows teams to focus on patient care instead of fixing errors, helping create stronger, more resilient general practice for the long term.
