First Community Trust Goes Live in NHS App with Digital Forms and Digital Letters

Industry-first integration shows progress in digitisation across primary, secondary and community care

LONDON, December 2025 – Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH) has become the first community trust to enable some of its patients to view digital letters and fill out digital questionnaires in the NHS App. This comes alongside a national push to integrate more Trusts’ systems into the NHS App.

CLCH is one of the largest community health trusts in the country, providing more than 100 clinical services to four million adults and children across 14 London boroughs and Hertfordshire. By implementing DrDoctor’s digital letters and digital forms services, patients have more control over how they manage their health information.

In June, CLCH became the first community Trust to go live with appointment reminders in the NHS App. The integration of digital letters and digital questionnaires is a further commitment to the national shift from hospital to community care.

Live from 2 December, patients using community services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and podiatry across Merton, Wandsworth, Brent and Harrow can now read letters about their healthcare online or via a paper copy allowing for more flexible access to this information. The system includes a safety net with a printed letter sent automatically if a patient does not open the digital version within 48 hours.

Digitising letters and questionnaires will save valuable staff time, reduce printing and postage costs, and streamlining administrative processes. It also supports clinical outcomes by allowing patients to complete questionnaires in advance, giving clinicians the information they need to tailor care and reduce delays.

Andrew Chronias, Chief Information Officer at CLCH said: “Going live with digital letters is a major step forward for us as a community trust. It supports the ambition in the NHS 10 year plan of moving from analogue to digital, giving our patients clearer, faster access to their health information and making our services more efficient and sustainable. Most importantly, it gives our patients more choice and control, helping them engage with their care in a way that works for them.”

Tom Whicher, CEO and Co-Founder of DrDoctor said: “My hope is that this second milestone integration with CLCH shows the rest of the NHS that integrating effectively with the NHS App is not only possible, but a positive change for the system. By integrating these services, we’re giving staff back valuable time to do the work they were trained to do, and helping patients choose how they want to manage their care.”
