LONDON, UK, June 2025 – DrDoctor, the UK’s leading patient engagement platform, has been awarded a deal worth more than £572,000 with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), via the G-Cloud Framework).
Supporting mental health services across Greater Manchester and beyond, GMMH will use DrDoctor’s platform to introduce a joined-up, hybrid model of care – one that fuses digital tools with in-person services to improve communication between the care provider, reduce missed appointments, and support patients more effectively across their care journey.
At a time where there is a growing need within the NHS to move more care, where appropriate, out of hospitals and into the community, the deployment will include automated appointment confirmations and reminders via SMS, email and the NHS App; instant access to digital letters through secure patient portals and app integration; and seamless NHS App connectivity to enable push notifications and appointment management in existing patient tools.
The Trust will also benefit from additional tools including digital forms and PROMs, integration with Civica Paris for structured data capture, and support services to ensure smooth technical onboarding and adoption.
This news – which comes just eight months after DrDoctor first moved into the mental healthcare and community support space with its acquisition of personal health record platform, Maia – will accelerate DrDoctor’s mission to implement system-level change to the patient engagement experience for all patients throughout the NHS ecosystem.
Dr Remy McConvey, Chief Clinical Information Officer at GMMH, said: “Mental health services need to be just as accessible as physical healthcare. For a long time, our service users have faced fragmented communication and complicated processes. This partnership is about fixing that. With DrDoctor, we’re modernising how people engage with us: making it easier to stay informed, attend appointments, complete forms and questionnaires, and feel supported throughout their care.”
Nick Barlow, Transformation Director, DrDoctor, added: “More than 1.2 million people are currently waiting for mental health support in England1 – a figure not currently accounted for in the 7.4 million strong NHS backlog. The last thing patients need is a system that makes it harder to engage when they finally get to the front of the queue. At DrDoctor, we design our tools to support real people with real challenges – reducing friction, freeing up clinical time, and ensuring every patient feels seen and supported. Greater Manchester is setting the bar for what modern, compassionate mental health services should look like.”
