Quality Assurance Lead recognised with RJAH Stars for impactful digital innovation

A member of staff who has played a key role in transforming how data is managed and used across The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has been presented with the latest RJAH Stars Award.

Hayley Gingell, Quality Assurance Lead at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital, was nominated by five of her colleagues – Dr Ruth Longfellow, Chief Medical Officer; Sam Young, Interim Chief Nursing and Patient Safety Officer; Dylan Murphy, Trust Secretary; Mary Bardsley, Assistant Trust Secretary; and Larissa McElroy, Executive Assistant and Operations Business Manager.

The nominations praised her for her significant role in designing and implementing digital systems and dashboards that support a wide range of assurance processes across the Oswestry-based hospital.

Her work includes an electronic business continuity plan toolkit and tailored dashboards to support the Getting It Right First Time further faster programme, Care Quality Commission standards, and Trust policies.

Nominations received for Hayley also highlighted her approachable and can-do attitude, praising her for always being willing to help, turning work around quickly, and making complex processes easier to understand for colleagues.

Hayley said: “I’m surprised and honoured to be recognised as an RJAH Star – one of the things I enjoy most in my role is making data accessible and meaningful for staff.

“None of the systems or dashboards I’ve developed would exist without the brilliant ideas and feedback from my colleagues, they’re the ones who identify the need and come up with suggestions that I can then help to bring to life.

“It really is a team effort, and I’m so grateful to work with such supportive people.”

The RJAH Stars Award is a monthly staff recognition initiative that celebrates individuals or teams who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to patient care, teamwork, and hospital values.

Winners receive a certificate and a voucher in recognition of their efforts, as well as the appreciation of colleagues and patients alike.

Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive, presented the award to Hayley. She said: “The sheer number of nominations Hayley received speak volumes about the impact she’s had across the Trust, and it was a no-brainer that she should be one of our winners.

“Her technical skills are outstanding, but it’s her positive attitude, responsiveness and willingness to support others that really make her stand out. We’re incredibly lucky to have her at RJAH.”
