Tandem Health, the healthtech company behind Europe’s most widely adopted AI medical assistant, has raised $50 million in Series A funding. Led by Kinnevik, with participation from Northzone and Amino Collective, the funding will support Tandem’s mission to transform clinical workflows across Europe and beyond.
“At Kinnevik, we’ve spent over a decade investing in healthcare across Europe and the US and few teams have impressed us like Tandem. Their clarity of vision, execution speed, and product intuition are world-class. It is especially exciting for us to partner with a company from the Nordics that is pioneering the next generation of healthcare infrastructure in Europe. We are proud to join Tandem on this journey,” said Georgi Ganev, CEO at Kinnevik.
Healthcare systems across the world are facing a growing crisis. Many clinicians spend nearly half their day on administrative tasks like writing notes, managing referrals, and handling follow-ups. It drains energy, slows access to care, and costs health systems billions. The combination of clinician shortages, rising healthcare costs, and an aging population is making the situation even more urgent.
Tandem is solving this through novel AI technologies. Its AI medical assistant is already in use by more than 1,000 healthcare organisations, including primary care, mental health, and specialist settings. The company’s recent partnership with Accurx in the UK brings AI-assisted clinical documentation to over 200,000 NHS professionals, making it one of the largest AI deployments in healthcare worldwide.
“We are just getting started with reimagining how healthcare will be delivered and how workflows are designed in the LLM era,” shares Lukas Saari, CEO and Co-founder of Tandem Health. “We seek to be the trusted long-term AI partner of healthcare providers, to support them in this transformational journey. In this, we are embracing the complexity that is European healthcare – already having established local operations in five markets – to provide the best tools that our clinicians deserve.”
The investment will further accelerate Tandem’s development beyond an administrative AI medical assistant, towards an AI native operating system that supports every step of the clinical workflow. This includes coding, care coordination, and clinical decision support tools – which will continue to reduce friction in clinicians’ daily work, help bring their attention back to the patients and improve the quality of care.
“Having worked closely with Tandem over the past year we’re very excited to double down on this winning team. The vision and execution to enable clinicians to provide a step change in healthcare through AI is truly outstanding. Within a year, Tandem has expanded to multiple countries and rolled out with some of the largest and most sophisticated healthcare providers,” said Pär-Jörgen Pärsson, General Partner at Northzone.
AI medical assistants are quickly becoming an integral part of how healthcare is delivered. It’s clear that these tools will soon be standard, and that the clinicians already using them wouldn’t go back. Tandem is committed to providing this safely and reliably, as the company continues rapidly making cutting-edge technology available to clinicians in Europe and beyond.
