Care Safe awarded major transport services contract by Cambridgeshire County Council

Cambridge, UK – 8 January 2026: Care Safe, the tech-enabled provider transforming home-based healthcare across the UK, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a major contract by Cambridgeshire County Council.

The brief is to deliver social care and education passenger transport services, following a competitive tendering process under the Council’s Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). The agreement, which runs until September 2026, marks an important step in Care Safe’s continued expansion and its commitment to improving access, safety and service quality for vulnerable individuals across the region.

Under the terms of the contract, Care Safe will provide safe, reliable and fully compliant transport services for eligible service users, including children, pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and vulnerable adults, in line with the Council’s detailed specification and safeguarding requirements, specifically anyone over the age of 18 with specialised needs for transport.

The agreement requires stringent performance and compliance obligations, including enhanced DBS checks for all drivers and passenger assistants, regular route-based risk assessments, timetable adherence, vehicle quality standards and alignment with the Council’s safeguarding and equality policies.

Care Safe will operate several routes across the region to ensure continuity of access to education settings, adult day services and wider community provision, providing on average 20 journeys per week.

Each route will be delivered with full consideration for passenger safety and wellbeing. Annual and ad-hoc risk assessments will be conducted to identify hazards, mitigate risks and ensure safe operation across all routes, including considerations such as road layout, boarding requirements, behavioural needs and specialist equipment.

Samit Kumar Biswas, CEO & Founder of Care Safe, commented:“We are delighted to have been selected by Cambridgeshire County Council to deliver such an essential service for children, young people and vulnerable adults across the region. Safety, care quality and reliability are at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to working in close partnership with the Council to ensure passengers receive the highest standard of support.”

Charges for each route are set under a structured pricing model, with provisions for mileage variations and daily-rate adjustments where required. The Council also retains the option to extend the contract for up to a further 24 months, enabling long-term continuity of provision where appropriate.

The company will now work closely with Cambridgeshire County Council on contract mobilisation, including staff onboarding, route familiarisation, safety planning and coordination with local schools and adult services.
